Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Darlene

I’m a California native who decided to pursue her own dreams and create a small wellness business with the help of my loving French husband, Thomas. I truly hope that Slowelle can help so many women around the world to slow down and start/continue their wellness journeys.

Get to know me:

  • I love everything that has to do with traveling, road trips, and camping
  • I am proudly obsessed with tea
  • I talk way too much, but I seriously can’t help it
  • My dream life is to live in a cozy countryside home surrounded by trees

“It started with depression.”

I wish I could say I came up with the concept of Slowelle in just a few days, but it took me about a year to shape Slowelle into the brand I not just wanted- but needed. Slowing down and understanding my wellness goals and who I was helped me realize that my small business dream, Slowelle, could help many women who struggled the way I did and still am.

It started with depression. After having gone through a terrible two-year depression, it made me realize how crucial it was to make my health, well-being, and myself a priority. Much of what has caused me to go into depression was making it a habit of putting everyone else’s needs right before mine. I eventually became so mentally and physically exhausted that I didn’t even know what my own needs were anymore.

When I began researching into starting my wellness journey (and what that even meant), I quickly became overwhelmed with these different resources telling me to do this and that and to buy this and that. At that time, I thought all I had to do was light a candle, put a face mask on, and voila – I’d be “cured” or something, but I realized that self-care goodies can become quite an expense after some time, and I still wasn’t “cured.”

So, I created Slowelle, a home centered around wellness and self-care, where everything you need is all in one place. From wellness tools to online resources – everything would be there. But also keeping in mind that everyone would be at a different stage in their wellness journey, I had wanted to make a shopping experience for everyone to choose the wellness tools they knew they needed or wanted. I wanted to create a shopping experience where mindfulness and intentional consumption were used together.

I wanted only one thing – wellness to be made simple.
